Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Wenn Du mir zum Beispiel ein Bild per Mail schicken würdest, dass Du selbst aufgenommen hast, würden wir das sicher für die Verwendung in der WP hochladen können. Alternativ könnte ich Dir auch den benötigten Content für das "einfache Upload-Formular" zusenden. Und lädst das Bild damit selbst hoch. Schreib mal näher, um welches Bild/Bilder es sich handelt. Nun ich bin mit der Frage hier her gelangt wegen dem Bild

Offenbar besteht dort kein Problem mit dem Urheberrecht (Source=ETH-Bibliothek Zürich, Bildarchiv / Fotograf: Unbekannt / Ans_05035-489 / Public Domain Mark). Ich selbst habe kein Fotovon der echten Pilatus P-4 (die ist schon vor meiner Geburt abgestürtzt. ich habe jedoch ein Foto von meinem Pilatus P-4 Modell hochgeladen. Ein Bild der echten P-4 wäre natürlich besser. Jedoch hab ich bisher nur die Bilder von Herman Keist gefunden [1] glaube aber nicht das er der Fotograf ist). Darum war der Sinn meiner Anfrage ob Michael32710 wie bei der SB-2 vieleicht auf die selbe Weise für ein Bild der Pilatus P-4 sorgen kann.FFA P-16 (talk) 17:10, 20 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hallo FFA P-16! Das Bild von der SB-2 habe ich bei der ETH gefunden. Die ETH hat die Bilder ihres Archivs dankenswerterweise unter Public Domain Lizenz freigegeben. Deswegen konnte ich das SB-2-Bild in die Wikipedia bringen. Leider konnte ich im ETH Archiv kein Bild der P-4 finden. Liebe Grüße --Michael 23:45, 20 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Michael, nochmal deutlich: Bitte valide Quelle eintragen und, sofern dort angegeben, den Fotografen. Wen letzterer bekannt ist, kann es sein, dass das Bild trotz der Ergänzung gelöscht werden muss, bis 70 Jahre nach dem Tode des Urhebers, also Fotografen, vergangen sind. OK. Und in dem Buch steht kein Hinweis zu einem Fotografen oder, wo sie das Bild herhaben? Bei Büchern findet man das oft weiter hinten in einem separaten Anhang. Ich meine, solange der Fotograf unbekannt bleibt, kann das Bild bleiben, weil mehr als 70 Jahre nach Veröffentlichung vergangen sind, aber im Zweifel bist Du derjenige, der mit eventuellen Erben Ärger bekommen könnte. — Speravir– 18:53, 20 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

BTW mein persönliches Feedback: Ich hab' kein Herzblut an meinen Tätigkeiten in Commons. Wenn Mitarbeiter wie Du, die "Kontrolleurs"- und "Lizenzprüfer"-Status haben, meinen, dass ich Fehler mache, dann tut, was ihr meint tun zu müssen. Ich komm' damit klar.
Stutzig werd' ich bei Ansprachen wie „Michael, nochmal deutlich: ...“ oder „im Zweifel bist Du derjenige, der mit eventuellen Erben Ärger bekommen könnte“. Da frag' ich mich tatsächlich, ob ich das als kollegiale Hilfe oder als Drohung aufzufassen habe. --Michael 22:58, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
Das war nicht als Drohung gemeint, sondern um den Hintergrund deutlich zu machen. Der Beginn oben bezog sich darauf, dass ich nicht wusste, ob und wenn ja wie gut Du den englischen Löschantrag verstehst, es gibt durchaus Leute, die damit Probleme haben. Hallo 79.214er, mit Bild und „Karte“: Konkret benutze ich „Google Earth“ mit der „Gelände“-Option. Damit kann man das vorliegende Bild sehr gut nachstellen. Nach meiner Auffassung kommt man damit der tatsächlichen Kameraposition ausreichend Nahe, um den interessierten Betrachter per Template:Location an den „Aufnahmeort“ zu führen. In diesem speziellen Fall war dieser „Aufnahmeort“ nach meiner Vermutung ein weiterer Helikopter; die Kameraposition lässt sich also nicht auf der „Erdoberfläche“ wiederfinden bzw. einnehmen. Hallo 79.214er, Google Earth (Google Earth Pro 7.3.2.5776 (64-bit)) -> Linke Spalte „Ebenen“ -> [x] Gelände Damit werden die Höheninformationen in die „flachen“ Bilder reingerechnet, was bei „schrägen“ Ansichten die Horizontline doch sehr realistisch erzeugt. Nein, das ist kein "mobile screenshot". Es ist ein von mir angefertigtes Bild aus dem Innenraum meines Autos, was man auch deutlich an den Fingerwischspuren im Bild erkennt. Ich habe das Bild mit Photoshop "Kameraverzerrung korrigieren ..." in eine rechtwinkliche Optik gebracht und den größten Teil des Bildes mit dem Innenraum weggeschnitten. --Michael (talk) 11:16, 12 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

This year is the nineteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. I also want to highlight what an incredible turnout we had. In the second round, we saw a massive jump in both the number of users voting and the total votes cast. We had exactly 13,979 votes cast by 3,509 users! To put that in perspective, last year we had 7,403 votes from 2,837 users. It is amazing to see that level of growth and community engagement.
Thank you to everyone who voted, helped organize, and generally made the contest such a huge success this year!
